A Message from the Chairman & President of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA)

Dear Esteemed UMTA members, valued travelers, and tourism stakeholders,

As the Chairman & President of the Union of Myanmar Travel Association (UMTA) and on behalf of the Executive Committee, I extend my warmest greetings and encouragement to all of you during these challenging times. As you might aware that, the global tourism industry has faced unprecedented disruptions during these years, but with resilience, innovation, and unity, we firmly believe that we can overcome these challenges and rebuild a stronger, more vibrant sector.

As you know, tourism is a cornerstone of Myanmar’s economy, creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and preserving our rich cultural heritage. When travelers explore the ancient temples of Bagan, the serene waters of Inle Lake, or the bustling streets of Yangon, they contribute to the livelihoods of countless individuals and communities. Beyond economic benefits, tourism fosters cultural exchange, promotes understanding, and strengthens bonds between nations.

To travelers around the world, Myanmar welcomes you with open arms. Our country offers breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and warm hospitality. Whether you seek spiritual solace, adventure, or authentic cultural experiences, Myanmar has something for everyone. As borders reopen and travel resumes, we are committed to ensuring your safety and comfort. Your visit will not only create unforgettable memories but also support the recovery of our tourism industry.

As the national Travel Association, UMTA is proud to represent all travel agents and tourism service providers across Myanmar. As a permanent member of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and the Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF), and a member of the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA), the Federation of ASEAN Travel Associations (FATA), and the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA), we are dedicated to promoting Myanmar as a premier destination and fostering industry growth.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce our upcoming travel events, including UMTA Travel Fairs scheduled for Jan 2026 and Myanmar International Travel Expo 2026 which will be taking place in late 2026. So, I urge all stakeholders to embrace innovation, diversify offerings, and prioritize sustainability. Together, we can rebuild a resilient tourism industry that benefits our economy, enriches our communities, and delights our visitors.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication. Let us move forward with hope and determination.

Warm regards,
